A Weekend in Frome & Dorset

Choosing somewhere to celebrate my Birthday weekend could not have been easier. It goes without saying that a short break away from everyday life is a true treat (and much needed), but I cannot even begin to say how much I particularly love this little corner of the world, and so, it was the BEST treat ever to start my year of being 24 in Dorset.

Not only was I lucky enough to bag myself a cosy country retreat, I also had a rather stylish stay in the Somerset town of Frome. To be honest I’d never heard of Frome before this little gem of an Airbnb popped up. But I would definitely recommend giving Frome a visit! It’s the perfect little town, very close to Bath, and admittedly I wasn’t expecting it, but it’s actually really quite cool, with lots of quirky little cafes, bars and restaurants, and all the vintage shops you could wish for.  This made for a great on the way stop off, with lots of delish food and drink!

If ever you do give Frome a visit, I would say you 100% should go to Rye Bakery. The best bread, pastries, and according to Paul the best bacon sandwich was had here.

Another food recommendation would be The Fat Radish for dinner and drinks. The food was aahmazing, and the cocktails were definitely what I was looking, and perfect to toast to the beginning of our little staycation adventure.

Being on the road on the way to somewhere exciting is one of my favourite things about going away in England. I actually really enjoy long drives, especially with Paul as my passenger; listening to Freedom by George Michael has somehow become our road trip anthem.

There are so many breathtaking and spectacular things to see in Dorset, but Old Harry, Durdle Door, and the view across Lulworth Cove are all up there with the best.

If you’re looking for the perfect country stay in the most amazing and idyllic location then look no further. I CANNOT recommend this Airbnb enough, even though there’s a part of me that wants this place all to myself, I would say you NEED to at least consider staying here.

This was our second visit to the Hayloft in Morcombelake Dorset, and I 100% want to go again and again because it is just so so special. Nicky and Martin are the most welcoming hosts ever, thinking of everything to make your stay perfect. The decor is so up my street it’s ridiculous, and the views are out of this world! As soon as we arrived I just felt so so happy and completely relaxed, I could not think of anywhere I’d rather have been for my Birthday.

I actually took these photos on our first visit in September, but the Hayloft is even more lovely now, with a cute little fire adding all the more cosiness.

Just look at that view!

I hope you enjoyed looking through my selection of photos from my weekend away. I love putting these sort of posts up because I know I’ll come back and re-read and look at my photos and get all the more excited for my next trip away.

Of course I can’t really post this without addressing the fact that I haven’t posted in so so long! I neglected my blog for a short while, however I’ve got lots of ideas and can’t wait to get back into the swing of things!
